If you’re in Seattle (or its environs) and you’re looking for something to do Monday night (February 11), look no further: Sherman Alexie and I will be at Elliott Bay Books at 7pm for your amusement. (And also to accept our Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association Awards.) I imagine there will be chatting and reading and possibly signing. The event is free, so bring your friends.

This? Awesome.
And thanks to alphabetization by title, Alif the Unseen is listed first. Thank you, alphabet.
And thank you, scions of the internet. The conversations I’ve had online over the years, involving people from the furthest reaches of the planet, have had a profound impact on the writing of this book, which deals in no small part with the new communities we are making for ourselves in this strange post-fictional world. I never imagined a novel as eclectic and wide-ranging as this one, with its genie protagonists and computer allegories and veiled heroines, would get the kind of attention it has gotten. I’m flattered and so so pleased.
